The Hidden Side of Holland V
Rightly thought of as a bohemian, trendsetting "European" enclave (SG's first wine bar and first Coffee Club opened here), there is however more to Holland V than cool cafes, shops and eateries...
....join us as we go local!
Visit a wet market, the Community centre, the community spaces, the inside of two contrasting HDB flats, the neighbourhood hangouts and even a totally "off the beaten track" Hakka ancestral hall and cemetery (see photo above).
As you weave in and out HV like a local pro, you'll also learn about her past — for example how in earlier days you would have seen plantations and hills where currently her busy streets stand.
Walk through Chip Bee Gardens, once a British military enclave, and visit one of the Black & White terrace houses to imagine the life of a British military family in the 1950s/60s.
We'll end our tour at Chip Bee, handy for you to plunge back into the 21st century for lunch in one of the many hip eateries here.
